A few years ago, I was invited to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman. It was a dream come true. The show was on in New York City, and I flew up from Los Angeles in a rented charabanc. After that, it was back to Los Angeles, and then back to New York, and back to LA. I have been to a lot of shows, and there are always changes, but I have always loved performing.
Matt Flynn was a singer in the indie-folk band, The FlyNs, before going to the U.K., then to LA and eventually to Minnesota. It is hard for me to describe this specific connection to a musician, but it is something that is true for me. So many of us in the music business spend much of our time in our own little bubble, and we all have our own little “secret projects” that we are working on.
Well, the thing is, Matt’s got a secret project too. He’s a musician and filmmaker who is producing a film based on a story by his friend and collaborator, Alex Garland, called The Death Loop. It’s set to be released on Halloween in 2013. And as we all know, Halloween can be a very difficult day to shoot for a film, so Matt will need a lot of help.
Matt has never been a big fan of Halloween, so he’s in for a lot of trouble. The film has the ability to completely change the way you look at what Halloween is (or what Halloween is supposed to be) and we’re looking forward to what it can do for the Halloween film industry. This is the first movie Matt has directed and the first he’s directed with an actual cast. He’s also been working with Garland for a long time on the soundtrack.
Matt’s been working on the soundtrack, and he’s really been able to work with the filmmakers with a great deal of patience and skill. He’s been working with the filmmaker about the sound track and the soundtrack and his work on the soundtrack has been great.
Matt is also a musician, so hes a great fit for the film. Its a great opportunity for him to work with the filmmakers, and the director has been so respectful of his input and his input on the film that hes been able to make the film sound as good as it could be. Its a real treat.
